Tips for furnishing your new house

Updated: Dec 27, 2019

You have signed the purchase contract for your new house; now you have to wait until you get the key. I know waiting takes a long time, but luckily you have plenty to do in the meantime. This way you can start with something beautiful, namely the layout of your new house. The interior of your home is something you look at every day. Of course, you also want this to look nice.

Read the tips below and create your dream house.

Tip 1: Determine your budget

Furnishing a house is a significant investment. Consider, therefore, what you need and what things you can purchase later. Start by determining your budget with the basics (floors, window coverings, walls, stairs, furniture) and then see what you have left for extras. Do you not want to spend too much money? Save a lot of money by buying second-hand furniture, for example, at Marktplaats. For example, go for a gentle stroll in the thrift store or at flea markets. This way, you will not only find a new interior, but you will also have a beautiful day out.

Tip 2: Choose your living style

A new house is a perfect time to choose a modern living style. All your options are still open. Therefore make mood boards to discover what suits you best. Are you more of a classic design, or would you like to follow the trends? Trends that I like are color blocking or an exotic interior, where you use a lot of colors. Keep your device close to yourself, because you are the one who will live in the house. Therefore go for an interior where you feel at home. Are you still not sure which style suits you? Then call in a famous interior designer in Mumbai and decide together how you can turn your house into your palace.

Tip 3: Create a 3D interior design

When you select your interior, you will only see the total picture when everything is in your house. It is, of course, annoying to find out that you do not find it so well matched. Fortunately, there are various websites and apps on the internet where you create a 3D design of your interior. There are thousands of images of furniture in these tools, so you can quickly check whether your industrial cupboard matches the wallpaper that you have selected.

Tip 4: DIY: Do it yourself

DIY is something that makes me very happy. You can turn old stuff into beautiful additions to your interior. For example, you can decorate a cupboard with palettes, newspapers, or whatever material you want. Another beautiful thing is to give objects a whole new function. For example, make a coffee table from pallets, or wallpaper your wall with newspapers. You can't think of it that crazy. So be creative and enjoy yourself!
